Since 1997 the Greater Nanaimo Cycling Coalition has been offering a variety of programs. Among these are the Bike To Work Week,

Bike to Work

Bike to Work Week is an event that uses friendly competition and online interactive tools to encourage people to ride to work.

We work with the City of Nanaimo, the Vancouver Island University, Vancouver Island Health Authority, local bicycle stores and many other stakeholders to offer bicycle commuters tips, great prizes, free food and bicycle maintenance at en route Celebration Stations.

Bike + Walk to School

Bike + Walk to School is a week long event that encourages elementary, secondary & post-secondary students, their parents, and staff to choose active transportation to get to and from school and university.

Organized for the past three years by the GNCC and the City, elementary & secondary schools participate in a friendly competition to see who can achieve the highest participation. Prizes, on-line interactive tools, and celebrations add to the excitement.

Bicycle maintenance and safety training courses are also offered to encourage students to ride their bikes safely, confidently and joyfully.

Business + Bicycling
